Yeah, ran out of steam. Trouble is, if you have one joke there's only do far you can take it.

Loads of quality lines - not as good as his previous stuff but early days.

Re: This Time with Alan Partridge
It was quite subtle, it'll get slated because people won't get it.

Thought it was ok.

Subtle?

In what way?

Re: This Time with Alan Partridge
subtle? no mate, it was just shit, i'll give it a couple to see if it improves, he should just do more of the road trip with the welsh bloke who's name can never remember

Yeah. That was much better. Like one foot in the grave for cunts.

Re: This Time with Alan Partridge
i'm a massive partridge fan. love both the (audio)books and the low key radio show so don't give me any bollocks about subtlety. it was just stilted and shit.

as soon as it was BBC one i was worried about it. you can't get something to air on that channel without a few fat fingered producers dipping into the pie which would soon see any edge of spontaneity drained from it.

I'm with Vexed here, it was a bit more subtle and all the better for it. Loved how close it actually was to the bland shit that is The One Show.

Much better low key acting and it was obvious that the big running joke was that he was in his best behaviour but still fucked it up.

Great stuff

Re: This Time with Alan Partridge
Partridge to me was a caricature based on Nick Owen on Good Morning Britain. The comedy worked best in those days. I don't think this new series will be as popular. Perhaps Steve Coogan will not want to pursue it either - his brilliant performance in Stan and Ollie should open up a wider field of acting to him.

Re: This Time with Alan Partridge
It was okay but ultimately disappointing. Probably because there was so much expectation.

Mid-Morning Matters was miles better.
